Día de la Madre Gift Guide

Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 8th in the US and Tuesday, May 10th in Mexico. We put together this breezy gift guide of tokens of gratitude for the moms and mentors in our lives. Como siempre, some of these products are locally sourced from mercados and businesses in México are priced in Mexican pesos instead of USD. You can also check out our curated madre's day collection :)

vase with flowers

Garrafa Lunar by Studio Conchita

My mom loves buying flowers (and getting them as a gift, of course) - And this is a great handmade vase to set up on the table (I’m guessing my mom’s favorite: the white one that matches with her favorite flowers, alcatraces). -Lety

uff balm in hand against sky

Uff! Touch + Soothe by Xula

This is such an easy balm for soothing aches and pains of any kind and I've been told (by my mom) that it brightens skin and calms rosacea, too. -Layla

candles

Candles by Cerería de Jesus

The velas escamadas are gorgeous handmade works of art, expertly crafting flowers, leaves, and lace from wax into intricate patterns that adorn these functional candles. Cerería de Jesus in CDMX has been making candles for more than 130 years. I’ve always gone to this store in person but it looks like they also have an online shop. These candles are both maximalist and pragmatic, just like my mom. -Layla

bromeliads

Bromeliads from your local plant nursery :)

There are one of my favorite plants to gift because they are somewhat easy to care for and once it flowers, they tend to last and show off their beautiful bloom for months. Once the flower dies off, which it eventually will, just make sure to instruct the mother figure in your life to cut it back so that new babies can grow. [Insert teary eyed emoji]  It’s tropical with beautiful foliage / frods and love being kept in bright, indirect light. It’s the perfect near a shower or sink to give you a tropical spa moment. If not kept in a moist room, just make sure to instruct the mother or caregiver in your life to mist it 3 to four times a week. -Mennlay

Whew! Moon-a-Pause by Xula

My mom has no womb (due surgery), so she has a severe hormonal imbalance which affects her day to day life. I’m getting her a bottle for mother’s day so she can add this to her morning ritual, which I think is definitely more gentle to her body and her kidneys than other treatments. -Lety

otomi table runner

Table runner from La Ciudadela

They’re typical for a household — especially one with the feminine touch and honestly my mama’s favorite thing from Mexico. And she’s acquired many things de Mexico over the years. -Mennlay

hair oil

Davines OI Oil by Davines

Every woman in my house uses this oil (my mom, my grandma, my sister and I). This multi-benefit oil brings softness and shine to the hair - and according to both my mom and my grandma it is the perfect product to soften a head full of gray hairs and give it a healthy looking texture. -Lety
